PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed-change controller for a continuously variable transmission wherein a hysteresis between an actual accelerator opening and an accelerator opening for speed-change control becomes an optimum value responding to the intention of a driver or an operating state such as a load condition of a vehicle. SOLUTION: In the speed-change controller for a continuously variable transmission, the accelerator opening for speed-change control APO<SB>(c)</SB>is set in response to the actual accelerator opening APO<SB>(a)</SB>, and speed-change control is carried out based upon the accelerator opening APO<SB>(c)</SB>. The hysteresis h between the actual opening APO<SB>(a)</SB>and the control opening APO<SB>(c)</SB>is changed in response to a vehicle speed VSP, and operating states of fuel consumption performance and power performance.
