<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water-soluble woven fabric or knitted fabric having a prolonged time period required to dissolve in water, and to provide a process for producing the same, and to provide a water-soluble yarn. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The process for producing a water-soluble woven fabric or knitted fabric includes a first step for forming a thin twisted-paper yarn 30 by twisting a strip of water-soluble paper, a second step for forming one durable thick twisted-paper yarn 40 by twisting a plurality of yarns which each is the thin yarn, together, and a third step for forming a woven fabric or knitted fabric by using the thick yarn.
