<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can readily recognize the position of loading and unloading the process cartridges, when moving the cartridge tray holding a number of process cartridges. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus holding a number of process cartridges, in a manner of freely removal for forming images on a recording medium, there is provided a cartridge tray 16 which can hold process cartridges and move to the inner position where to set a process cartridge in the apparatus body and to positions for loading and unloading of the process cartridges. Furthermore, a rotating piece 22 is formed either in the cartridge tray 16 or in the apparatus body, and grooves 19 are engagingly formed on the other with the rotating piece 22.
