<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soluble aniline-based chromism polymer which is soluble in an aqueous solvent and an organic solvent and can sensitively change color under various stimuli, and to provide a method for producing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The soluble aniline-based chromism polymer has a repeating structure comprising a moiety derived from a substituted aniline having a specific substituent and a moiety derived from unsubstituted aniline, and has a number average molecular weight within a specific range.
