PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system of a conveyor belt hardly damaged by an article to be conveyed or a guide roller when a sound collecting microphone collects the rotating sound of the guide roller. SOLUTION: The sound collecting microphone 2 is buried in the edge of a conveyor belt 1 (end of belt in the lateral direction) with a sound collecting part facing outward in the lateral direction of the belt, and continuously detects the rotating sound of the guide roller when the conveyor belt 1 travels. An analysis unit 3 analyzes a signal from the sound collecting microphone 2 when the conveyor belt 1 travels. Since the rotating sound is changed when the rotation of the guide roller is defective, the defective rotation of the guide roller can be specified by collecting and analyzing the sound and detecting a change in the frequency of the sound.
