PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared optical system that provides a favorable image and is suitable for a monitoring camera arranged under a severe environment, and to provide an infrared lens for sufficiently removing remaining chromatic aberration in an infrared region. SOLUTION: The infrared optical system is used in a wavelength region of 3-14 μm from infrared to far infrared. The infrared optical system includes two lenses, a first convex meniscus lens whose convex surface faces the object side and a second concave meniscus lens whose concave surface faces the object side, in this order from the object side.
