A method comprising: selecting a first putative code sequence; selecting a first portion of a received signal in dependence upon the first putative code sequence; performing a correlation on the selected first portion of the received signal using the first putative code sequence; selecting a second putative code sequence; selecting a second portion of the received signal in dependence upon the second putative code sequence, wherein the second portion is different to the first portion as a consequence of the first putative code being different to the second putative code; performing a correlation on the selected second portion of the received signal using the first putative code sequence.
