The invention relates to a method for operating a waste heat steam generator (1) comprising an evaporator (16), an economizer having a number of economizer heating surfaces (10, 14), and a bypass line (4) connected on the flow medium side in parallel with a number of economizer heating surfaces (10), wherein said method should make possible higher operational safety and reliability in the control of the waste heat steam generator.
