<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve performance of a polynuclear azo metal complex dye in an optical information recording medium responding to shortwave laser beams. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to the optical information recording medium having a recording layer which contains the polynuclear azo metal complex dye including an azo dye and a metal ion, and a cationic dye, and an information recording method for recording information in the recording layer of the optical information recording medium by irradiating the optical information recording medium with laser beams having 440 nm or less of wavelength.
