<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component mounting machine and a method of mounting components, capable of checking the state, where paste adheres to components, even if the components and the paste have similar colors, and capable of preventing the components from being mounted erroneously. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Images of a transfer table 4, before and after the component P abuts against a paste film (b), are captured for comparison. When there is a portion where the contrast change exists between both the images, it is determined that the paste B has been transferred to the component P in a normal fashion.
