<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmitting/receiving system capable of converting resolution of image data using an apparatus in which performance of a converter is improved. <P>SOLUTION: In the case where performance of a first converter in an image transmitting apparatus is high, a first conversion mode is set by user operation and a conversion controller controls to convert the resolution of image data using the first converter. In the case where performance of a second converter in an image transmitting/receiving apparatus is high, a second conversion mode is set by user operation, and the conversion controller controls to convert the resolution of the image data using the second converter.
