<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module in which two optical devices are optically coupled by accurately measuring the distance between the end faces of the optical devices and to provide a method of manufacturing the optical module. <P>SOLUTION: The optical module 100 is composed by connecting two PLCs (Planar lightwave Circuits), a first PLC 110 and a second PLC 120. An MZI (Mach-Zehnder Interferometer) circuit 101 is formed striding over the first PLC 110 and the second PLC 120. A part of the MZI circuit 101 is formed in the second PLC 120 and the other part is formed in the first PLC 110. The MZI circuit 101 is used as an optical circuit for measurements of end face distance, thus the distance D between end faces is accurately measured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
