PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and reliably set paper in a paper feed part. SOLUTION: A complex machine includes a paper feed unit for feeding paper, a main scanning sensor S1 for detecting first detection information to specify the size of the paper in the main scanning direction, an auxiliary scanning sensor S3 for detecting second detection information to specify the size of the paper in the auxiliary scanning direction, a paper presence or absence sensor for detecting the presence or absence of the paper in the paper feed unit, a sensor monitoring part for monitoring whether the presence of the paper is detected, a timer for measuring a first elapsed time after the presence of the paper is detected, a size specifying part for specifying the size of the paper according to the first detection information and the second detection information after the first elapsed time exceeds a predetermined first set time, and a paper feeding control part for controlling the operation of the paper feed part so as not to feed the paper before the size of the paper is specified.
