<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand position information generation device capable of setting correct hand position information by reducing human errors, when setting hand position information for information notation on an electronic timepiece. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This device includes an imaging part (65) for imaging a dial of a timepiece, an image recognition means (74b) for performing image recognition of information notation formed on the dial from an imaged image of the dial acquired by the imaging part, and a hand position information generation means (74d) for generating hand position information showing the position of a hand indicating the information notation based on the information notation subjected to image recognition by the image recognition means.
