<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and highly-durable vane type vacuum pump suppressing damage to a vane and abrasion of the vane as much as possible by a simple means. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An annular groove 31 obliquely recessed in a centripetal direction toward the side of a vane supporting portion 21 is formed in a corner where the end surface 21b of the vane supporting portion 21 on the side of a shaft 22 in a rotor 2 and the peripheral surface of the shaft 22 are continuously formed. Thereby, inclined surfaces 32, 32 mutually enlarged toward the side of the peripheral surface of the shaft 22 are formed at both end corners E, E of the groove bottom surface 3a of the vane groove 3.
