<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: with such a type of map display apparatus wherein a user performs successive input from the prefecture name to the block number to retrieve an address, the user has to input the whole address again even in the case of retrieving an address similar to the address inputted in the past. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A map display apparatus for displaying a map containing a point of an address constituted of a plurality of administrative district names includes: a control means 11 which displays input items prepared for each administrative district unit and, corresponding to the input items, the input history of administrative district names respectively linked and stored by each administrative district unit; and a selection means selecting the input item. When the input item is selected by the selection means, the control means displays the list of administrative district names stored in advance corresponding to the input items.
