The arrangement has an airbag with a feed-through opening (16), which passes through a front-side end of a cylindrical gas generator. Slots (17) are provided in an outer fabric layer (13) and an inner reinforcing layer of the airbag, respectively, where the slot provided in the outer fabric layer runs out from an outer edge of the feed-through opening and radially extends away from the feed-through opening. The slots are formed in an offset manner in relation to each other in a circumferential direction of the feed-through opening around an angle. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a cylindrical gas generator in an airbag.
