<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking aid device capable of adding assisting force to only one of dorsiflexion and plantar flexion without generating the assisting force to the other. <P>SOLUTION: The walking aid device has a spring unit which supplies force in a direction opposite to a swing direction to a swung foot brace. The spring unit has a first member, a second member and a compression spring, and the second member is freely slidably attached to the first member. The compression spring is disposed at the overlapping part of the first member and the second member, and the compression spring is energized in the direction of pulling the second member into the first member. The first member is provided with a regulation part for regulating the extendable length of the spring to a prescribed length shorter than a natural length. That is, when the spring is compressed to the extendable length or shorter, the compression spring generates restoration force in the direction of pulling the second member into the first member.
