Ž<P>SOLUTION: An engine ECU 32 monitors a parameter (for example, accelerator opening) being a factor of increasing a request fuel quantity in engine operation, sets an acceleration prospect correction quantity in response to its predicted increase quantity when predicting an increase in the request fuel quantity, determines a target delivery quantity corrected by a prospect in response to the predicted increase quantity of the request fuel quantity by correcting the request fuel quantity of the engine by this acceleration prospect correction quantity, and determines a target rotating speed corrected by the prospect in response to the predicted increase quantity of the request fuel quantity by arithmetically operating a target rotating speed from this target delivery quantity. A signal of the target rotating speed after this prospect correction is transmitted to a pump driving circuit 31, and feedback control is performed so that an actual rotating speed of a fuel pump 14 is made to coincide with the target rotating speed by the pump driving circuit 31.
