<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery which is prevented from being broken by preventing invasion of discharge spark due to static electricity into the inside of the battery and inflammation to gas staying inside of the battery, and which prevents an adverse effect of liquid junction from occurring. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the lead-acid battery having a plurality of cells, the periphery of each liquid plug attached to a lid or one part thereof includes a conductive layer, at least one of conductive layers is brought into contact with one terminal provided at the lid or separated from it with a distance "x", and the respective conductive layers are mutually separated with a distance "d" without being brought into contact with each other. Then, the distance "x" and the separation distance "d" are set to a sufficiently short range where static electricity moves between the conductive layer and the terminal and between adjacent conductive layers. By such a configuration, the battery is prevented from being broken by preventing invasion of the discharge spark due to the static electricity into the inside of the battery and inflammation to the gas staying inside of the battery, and liquid drop passing through the conductive layers and reduction in capacity of the battery due to this liquid drop are suppressed.
