PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article in which hollow leakproof walls at both side edge parts positioned in an excretion part area can be easily erected in a loop shape whose cross section is roughly circular even in a long sanitary napkin such as a sanitary napkin for the nighttime, while fitness to a wearer is improved by erecting them in the loop shape, and twist prevention and leakage prevention properties are improved. SOLUTION: The sanitary napkin 1 includes a vertically long absorbent body 5 provided with a front surface sheet 2, a back surface sheet 3 and an absorbent body 4, and hollow loop-like leakproof walls 7 at both side parts 5a in the longitudinal direction. The leakproof wall 7 has a plurality of highly rigid parts 6c where rigidity of a part of a flexible sheet 6 is increased in an area (X3 area) on the width direction center side of the sanitary napkin 1 from the peak part 7a of the leakproof wall 7, which is at least the excretion part area (a). The highly rigid part 6c is extended in the erecting direction of the loop-like leakproof wall 7 and is formed so as not to reach the peak part 7a of the leakproof wall 7.
