A method and apparatus for detecting a video field sequence and a video processing system are provided. The method includes: calculating a difference D1 between a top field Tn of a current frame and a bottom field Bn-1 of a previous frame and a difference D2 between a bottom field Bn of the current frame and a top field Tn-1 of the previous frame; and determining a displaying sequence of the top field and bottom field of the current frame by comparing D1 and D2.
