A schedule deciding apparatus acquires the dependence of an execution sequence that is to be satisfied by a plurality of subtasks into which a first task has been divided; creates a plurality of subtask structure candidates that satisfy the aforementioned dependence and that use a plurality of processing devices to execute the plurality of subtasks; adds at least one second task to each of the plurality of subtask structure candidates, thereby creating a plurality of schedule candidates; calculates an availability indicating the effectiveness of executing the first and second tasks for each of the plurality of schedule candidates; and decides, based on the availability, one of the plurality of schedule candidates to be used for the execution of the first and second tasks.
