<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device apparatus and a mode-switching method thereof in which a communication mode can be automatically switched, according to host unit to be connected. <P>SOLUTION: When a digital camera 100 is USB-connected with the host equipment, a communication mode is determined on the basis of a command given from the host unit, immediately after the connection and is automatically set to a communication mode, corresponding to the host unit.
