PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for a continuously variable transmission by which a feedback control on transmission input engine speed is favorably made, even if learning of manipulated variables for a gearshift solenoid is inadequate. SOLUTION: An electronic control unit 60 performs: a learning control on control output characteristics of the gearshift solenoid; a linear shift control on a belt-type variable transmission 16 so that an input engine speed in vehicle acceleration is adapted to a command engine speed upon a linear shift which is so set as to proceed in proportion to vehicle speed. In setting command engine speed upon the linear shift, the electronic control unit 60 makes a changeover of an operational map for correction of the command engine speed to be used in the setting in accordance with a proceeding state of the learning of the control output characteristics of the gearshift solenoid.
