PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device in which, at light dimming, unpleasantness is not given to a user due to an illuminance change and even if an operation opportunity is missed, it is not necessary to repeat a dimming operation and moreover a light dimming of a security bulb can be carried out. SOLUTION: An operation time required for pulling down a string-pulling switch S1 is measured by a control means 16 by using a timer, and when the measured result is a given time (1s) or shorter, a fluorescent lamp 14 is set at a given illuminance (65%), and when the measured result is longer than the given time (1s), the illuminance of the fluorescent lamp 14 is repeatedly controlled for a gradual decrease and a gradual increase, and when the string-pulling switch S1 is operated again, the illuminance of the fluorescent lamp 14 is maintained to light at the illuminance upon the re-operation.
