<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a large change in sliding resistance by the thermal expansion caused by a temperature rise. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This piston ring is constituted of an outer ring 21 fitted to and inserted into a ring groove 23 of a piston 3 and slidingly contacting with a cylinder bore 2a, and an expander 22 interposed between this outer ring and a bottom surface of the ring groove and energizing the outer ring outward in the radial direction. The expander is formed by sticking an inner peripheral side member 25 and an outer peripheral side member 26, and the inner peripheral side member is formed of a material of a large thermal expansion coefficient, and the outer peripheral side member is formed of a material of a small thermal expansion coefficient, respectively.
