The hydraulic brake power amplifier has an amplifier piston (2) guided in a cylinder, where front side of the amplifier piston in a cylinder is bordered and a hydraulic medium is filled in a pressure chamber. The shifting of a primary piston (6) is metrologically detected and an electronic control unit of a spring unit (7) is activated in the normal operation of the brake power amplifier.
