The drive has a controllable brake device (6) designed as a magneto-rheological brake (15), which stays in connection with an inlet element (4) of an overlapping transmission (2). The brake includes a fixed component (17) fastened to a housing component, and effective surfaces (18a, 18b) of a rotatable component (16) face effective surfaces (21a, 21b) of the fixed component, in a cavity (20) of the fixed component. The cavity is sealed and filled with a magneto-rheological fluid (19), where the ductility of the fluid is controllable by the strength of a magnetic field of electromagnets (22).
