PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission for compatibly suppressing unnecessary up-shift and suppressing the occurrence of belt slip in an extremely low vehicle speed region. SOLUTION: An ECU (electronic control unit) executes a program which includes a step (S112) of executing gentle duty-down control during the travel of a vehicle at an extremely low vehicle speed (YES in S102) in the case of a maximum speed ratio (YES in S104) and initial start of movement after starting an engine (YES in S106), a step (S110) of executing duty-down control in the case of no initial start of movement after starting the engine (NO in S104), a step (S108) of executing closing control during the stop of the vehicle (YES in S100), and a step (S114) of executing shift feedback control during no travel at the extremely low vehicle speed (NO in S102).
