<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stable reproducing operation of a multi-session CD including a CCCD, and to reproduce an optical disk having data other than audio data recorded in a first session and each of subsequent sessions. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A microcomputer 6 controls a pickup 3 to read TOC information recorded at the lead-in position of the first session of the optical disk 1, and determines from the TOC information whether or not the first track of the first session is an audio track. When the first track of the first session is an audio track, the TOC reading of second session and the subsequence sessions is not performed while treating with the optical disk as a single session CD even though being a multi-session CD. This prevents abnormal operation which can be caused in TOC reading of the second session onward of the CCCD. When the first track is not an audio track, TOC information of each session is acquired.
