PURPOSE: A broadcasting receiver and a operation method thereof are provided, which proceed channel switching between groups or within the same group according to user command, make movement or selection between broadcasting channels facile. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(120) decides a group of a broadcast channel based on a genre ratio of a broadcasting signals. The Control unit automatically groups broadcasting channels. The broadcasting signals are received from one broadcast channel. The control unit calculates a genre rate of broadcasting signals through broadcasting program information about a broadcast channel. If the genre of rate higher than a preset threshold ratio exists among genres of broadcasting signals, a control unit decides genre as a group. |
