A needle bearing comprises an inner race 1 and an outer race 2 between which are disposed a plurality of needles 3 spaced by a cage 7 which is of a softer material than the needles and provides abutments 4 for the ends of the latter. The needles are cylindrical, or taper to diminished diameters at their extremities, and at least one of the races presents a convex surface thereto. As shown, the cage is located by overhanging flanges on the outer race so as to be incapable of, or capable only of, limited lateral movement relative to said race. The, or each, convex face of the race may have a curvature equal to at least a thousand times a twelfth of the length of each needle. Specification 711,705 is referred to. |
