The lower nozzle (10) is of the type comprising an upper end (26) and a lower end (28) for the lower nozzle to rest on a lower core plate (4) of a reactor core and a lateral surface (30) extending along a longitudinal axis (A) from the lower end (28) to the upper end (26). According to one aspect of the invention, the lateral surface (30) comprises a longitudinal segment (32) tapering downwardly progressively and continuously along the longitudinal axis (A) and extending on at least 50% of the height (H) of the lateral surface (30).
