In X-ray apparatus for making a panoramic series of radiographs of the dental arches, the X-ray tube carrier 2 and the radiographic plate carrier 3 form part of a fixed frame 1 which also carries a fixed plate 7 having a graduated scale 21 and supporting, by means of a pin 8 riding in a slot 9, a rotatable plate 10 and semicylindrical screen 11, the plate 10 also carrying a graduated bar 20. The patient's head is introduced into the screen 11 and as the patient is rotated and also, where necessary, translated forwards or backwards to follow the buccal surfaces, the successive positions are indicated on the scales 20 and 21. A cushion 16 is caused to bear lightly against the patient's neck. A lead screen 4 is provided where shown. |
