The invention relates to new antimicrobial compositions comprising a combination of
- at least one organic and / or inorganic peroxide,
- at least one silver source, and
- at least one specific nitrogen containing compound selected from N-methylated aminoacids, N-methylated aminoalcohols, N-methylated amine oxides, N-methylated amidines and poly amino hydrocarbon compounds, or
- at least one non glucogenic compatible solute.
