发明名称 Conjugate artificial monofilaments
摘要 968,328. Ion-exchange resin-containing artificial monofilaments. FMC CORPORATION. Sept. 21, 1960 [Oct. 30, 1959], No. 32464/60. Drawings to Specification. Heading B5B. Conjugate artificial monofilaments comprising at least two components, one component being exposed and having a major proportion of a finely divided ion-exchange resin intimately distributed throughout the cross-section thereof are made by extruding through a common orifice into a setting atmosphere or into a coagulating bath two melts or two spinning solutions, e.g. viscose, one of which contains an ionexchange resin dispersed in it and the other of which is resin free in side-by-side relationship or sheath-core relationship. The extruded products are passed through the setting atmosphere or the coagulating bath in parallel and joined at their peripheries along their entire length by intermingled portions of the products to convert them into a single conjugate monofilament having a portion of the resin-containing component exposed along the full length of the monofilament. The monofilament is then withdrawn from the setting atmosphere or coagulating bath and collected. The monofilament produced may contain over 40% by weight of the ion-exchange resin based on the total weight of monofilament. The resin-containing component may be extruded annularly around the resin-free component. The two filament-forming materials being extruded may be two viscoses, one containing the ion-exchange resin dispersed in it and the other being resin free. Both viscoses are extruded into a cellulose regenerating bath to form a conjugate monofilament in which one component is regenerated cellulose having the resin uniformly dispersed in it and the other component is resin-free regenerated cellulose. The resin-free component of the conjugate artificial monofilament serves as a structural reinforcement for the resin-containing component. When using cation-type ion-exchange resins in conjunction with viscose, the resins are converted into the sodium form before being incorporated in the viscose. When using aniontype ion-exchange resins they are converted into the hydroxyl form before being incorporated in viscose. Specification 579,081 is referred to.
