A petrol or butane lighter comprises an actuating lever 3 pivotally linked to a flame cap 4 by two spring-loaded studs 6, 7 which engage in apertures formed in the lever 3 and the cap 4. The studs 6, 7 are riveted to a leaf spring 5. The cap 4 is either embraced by the lever 3 as shown, or the arrangement is reversed. The leaf spring 5 may extend beyond the studs 6, 7 and form a pawl engaging a oneway detent device on a friction wheel. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the studs are urged apart by a compression spring disposed between them and inside a sleeve. |
