A printing material container (100, Fig.2) comprises a first device (203, Fig 3B) e.g. a memory, a second device (104, Fig 2) e.g. a sensor, and a terminal group that includes a plurality of first terminals 220, 230, 260, 270, 280 and at least one second terminal 250, 290. The plurality of first terminals 220, 230, 260, 270, 280 are connected to the first device (203, Fig 3B) and respectively include a first contact portion cp for contacting a corresponding contact forming member among the plurality of apparatus-side contact forming members. The at least one second terminal 250, 290 is connected to the second device (104, Fig 2) and includes a second contact portion cp for contacting a corresponding contact forming member among the plurality of apparatus-side contact forming members. The printing material container (100, Fig.2) further comprises a short circuit detection contact portion cp located on a third terminal 210, 240 to contact a corresponding contact forming member among the plurality of apparatus-side contact forming members to detect shorting between the second contact portion cp and the short circuit detection contact portion cp. The short circuit detection contact portion cp is located adjacent to the second contact portion cp. The plurality of the first contact portions cp, the second contact portion cp, and the short circuit detection contact portion cp are arranged so as to form multiple rows.
