<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for preventing leakage of molten silicon from a joint on a reaction vessel. <P>SOLUTION: A sealant used at the joint on the carbon reaction vessel which contacts the silicon melt contains a ceramic material showing an angle of contact with the silicon melt of≥45°. The ceramic material is at least one chosen from boron nitride, silicon nitride, aluminum nitride and silica. In the method for sealing the joint on the carbon reaction vessel for obtaining silicon in the form of the melt from a raw material gas containing chlorosilanes and hydrogen in the heated reaction vessel, the sealant is used for sealing the joint on the reaction vessel which contacts the silicon melt. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
