EXPRESSION CASSETTE ENCODING A 5-ENOLPYRUVYLSHIKIMATE-3-PHOSPHATE SYNTHASE (EPSPS) AND HERBICIDE-TOLERANT PLANTS CONTAINING IT

Expression cassette (EC) containing, functionally linked in the direction of transcription, a promoter (P) functional in plant cells or plants, nucleic acid (I) encoding EPSPS (5-enol-pyruvateshikimate-3-phosphate synthase) and a terminator, also functional in plant cells or plants, is new. The novelty is that P is derived from the cassava vein mosaic virus (CsVMV). Independent claims are also included for: (1) cloning and/or expression vector for plant cell or plant transformation that includes EC; and (2) transformed plant cells, plants or their seeds that contain EC.
