A slip-joint connection for a straight or angle handpiece has a rotatable driving shaft 20 connected by a flexible shaft 23 to a coupling element 24 through which drive is transmitted to the tool or tool-carrying spindle of a handpiece mounted on the slip-joint connection. The rotatable shaft 20 is hollow and carries a pulley 21 through which it is driven by a driving cord. The rotatable shaft is mounted in ball bearings 11, 12 in a bearing housing 16. The bearing housing is rotatable in a housing 7 against an adjustable resistance provided by a spring-urged pressure pin 17. The housing 7 is closed by an annular screw cap 8 and is connected by an elbow joint 6 to a pivot pin 3 which is rotatable within limits defined by a groove 4 and a stop-pin 4 in a sleeve 2 on a curved arm 1. The flexible shaft 23 is soldered within the end of the rotatable shaft remote from the pulley and in a recess 29 in the coupling element 24 which is shouldered at 30 to limit oscillatory movement. A handpiece is fitted on a sleeve 26 connected with the housing 7 so that the tool is driven through the coupling element 24. |
