Class 44 A door fitting comprises an angularly movable handle 5 having a trunnion 5a engaging a hole in an attachment plate 4, and engaging, at its inner end, the spindle 6 of the door fastening; a retaining washer 7, on the trunnion 5a, adapted to co-operate with a stop or stops 8 on the plate 4 to limit the angular movement of the handle 5, and a spindle 9 attached to an eccentric point 7b of the washer 7 at one end and having its other end slidable in a tubular part 10 against the action of a compression spring 11, the tubular part bearing at its opposite end against an abutment 4a on the attachment plate. The spindle 9, spring 11 and part 10 act as an over-centre spring to bias the handle 5 to one of its limit positions defined by the extensions 7a on washer 7 and the stop 8 in Fig. 1, the washer or washers 7 and the trunnion 5a having complementary flats to prevent relative motion. In an embodiment in the Provisional Specification the spindle 9 has an enlarged bifurcated end pivoted to the eccentric point 7b and the abutment 4a comprises a pin attached to the plate 4 and extending through a pair of diametrically opposed holes in the wall of the tubular part 10.</p> |
