MAGNETIC BALLAST CIRCUIT FOR HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE LAMP

PURPOSE: A magnetic-type ballast for a high pressure discharge lamp is provided to prevent the malfunction of a breaker due to the excess current by controlling a rush current when the high pressure discharge lamp is turned on. CONSTITUTION: A power supply unit(110) supplies the operating voltage of a high pressure discharge lamp. A first power source circuit(111) changes an AC power source to a DC power source. A rush current suppressing unit(120) is electrically connected to the power supply unit. The rush current suppressing unit controls the rush current when the high pressure discharge lamp is turned on. A power converting unit(130) controls power of the high pressure discharge lamp by increasing or decreasing the inductance of a choke coil(140). The choke coil is electrically connected to the power supply unit.
