A countersinking and burr-removing tool comprises a shank (1), Figs. 2a and 2c (not shown), having a conical cavity (36) therein, and a removable cutting member (35) formed from high speed steel. Member (35) is of a double conical form, has a cutting edge (34) on each surface (17), (17a), and is held in cavity (36) of shank (1) by a nut (24a). Relative rotation between members (1) and (35), may be prevented by a pin and recess, or lugs (38), (38<SP>1</SP>) on head (2c) of the shank may engage in grooves (39), (39<SP>1</SP>) in member (35). The cutting edges may be of circular form, or the ends (34e) of cylindrical aperture (5e), Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), may be widened at (5/) to form a straight cutting edge (34e). In a modification, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), core (35b) is secured to head (2d) by a nut (24a) and clearances (a), (b), (c), (d) are provided, as also are stops (38), which engage in grooves (39). In a further modification, Fig. 11 (not shown) the aperture in double cone (35c) does not pass right through. In a still further modification, Fig. 12 (not shown), the double cone has milled recesses (40) forming cutting edges (34i). In another modification, Fig. 14 (not shown), double cone (35e) has a plurality of cutting edges (41). |
