996,690. Counterbalancing mobile jib-cranes. W. REICH, [trading as FIRMA MASCHINENFABRIK WILHELM REICH]. April 21, 1964 [April 26, 1963], No. 16404/64. Heading B8B. A counterbalance weight 16, Fig. 1, for a mobile jib-crane is mounted on the end of an arm 14 which is disposed as shown for transport and moved to a position at right angles to the vehicle 2, Fig. 4, when the crane is in use. Before the crane is used it is moved from a forward position, Fig. 1, to a central position, Fig. 3, in which position wheels 18 of the counterweight arm 14 rest on the ground. To facilitate manoeuvring all the road wheels of the vehicle and the counterweight may be steerable. The wheels 18 can be rotated through 90 degrees by a hand-crank whilst a wheel 21 supports the counterweight. This arrangement enables the crane to be moved with the arm 14 in its operative position. During operation the arm 14 is rigid with the vehicle 2. The counterweight 16 may be a generator for supplying current to the crane. All the road wheels are drivable. |
