An adhesive tape (1) for flying roll change of flat web material wound on rolls comprises a carrier (2) having a leading side (4) and a trailing side (5), an optically detectable layer (6) arranged on the leading side, an exposable self-adhesive compound (10) arranged on the leading side, a cleavable adhesive system arranged on the trailing side and an inductively detectable metal foil (8) arranged in a visually inconspicuous manner on either the leading side or trailing side. An independent claim is included for splicing a new roll of flat web material to an old unwinding roll of flat web material involving applying an adhesive tape to a leading edge of the new roll of flat web material, setting the new roll of flat web material with the applied adhesive tape in motion, and contacting a trailing edge of the old unwinding roll of flat web material with the leading edge of the new roll of flat material while both are moving to splice the new roll of flat web material to the old unwinding roll of flat web material via the adhesive tape. |
