A magnetic recording tape comprising an organic base coated with a magnetic layer consisting of magnetic particles dispersed in a binding agent, the binding agent comprising a polyurethane resin prepared by chemical reaction of a polyester containing free hydroxyl groups and polyisocyanates in admixture with a thermoplastic non-cross-linked, resinous binding agent, the change of which upon dissolving and evaporation of the solvent is substantially physical. Components forming the polyurethane resin are specified. The resin may comprise polymers or copolymers of acrylic or methacrylic derivatives, vinyl derivatives, e.g. polyvinyl isobutyl ether copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, vinylidene chloride and chlorinated P.V.C., polyvinyl resins with rubbery butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers, and cellulose compounds, e.g. cellulose nitrate.</p> |
