PURPOSE: A system for providing a widget service and a method for updating widget information in the same are provided to update only widget information that a user selects among widget information saved in a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal(100) transmits widget information to update and connection information to the sever(200) if the widget information to update and connection information for receiving the widget information to update are selected. The mobile terminal checks widget information included in a received short message if a short message including the widget information is received from a server. The mobile terminal updates the saved widget information by the checked widget information(280).
