<p>Provided is a light-amplifying glass which absorbs more Yb3+. A light-amplifying glass contains, in mol% based on oxides, 30-55% of Bi2O3, 25-50% of SiO2 or B2O3 or both in total, 12-27% of Al2O3 or Ga2O3 or both in total, 0-4% of La2O3, and 0.1-4% of Yb2O3, does not substantially contain Er2O3, and is used for amplifying light having a wavelength of 1.0-1.2µm. An optical waveguide having the light-amplifying glass as a core is also provided.</p> |
